Doctor Neo Periwinkle Cortex is the main antagonist of the Crash Bandicoot series. He is notable for his big head, short stature and silly personality. He created Crash Bandicoot to be the General for his Cortex Commandos, but something went awry, and now Crash is as stupid as ever.
As for Cortex's past, he hates clowns, as he grew up in a circus, and was abused by the circus clowns, which is where he got the "N" on his forehead, as it stood for "nerd." He was also one of the main attractions as he was the target of being abused. Later, a "freak fireworks accident" occurred, and Cortex was the sole survivor. Due to his superior intellect, he entered Madame Amberly's Academy of Evil, where he met soon-to-be assistant Nitrus Brio, and also N.Gin (who would also be his assistant later).
Cortex has appeared in every single Crash Bandicoot game, under the strict order of Uka-Uka, his boss. He is rivals with Doctor Nefarious Tropy, and tries to conquer the world in various ways. Though in dire situations, he reluctantly teams up with Crash, as seen in Crash Team Racing, or, most notably Crash Twinsanity. He was voiced by Clancy Brown, then was replaced by Lex Lang.
