Susan Brandt, a blackjack dealer at a casino, believed herself to be an normal human. Susan was killed when she accused a cheating criminal, but she was then reincarnated in a new body that was partially made of plants. She recalled that she had been raised as the Celestial Madonna and trained in both the martial arts and the use of her psychic abilities by the Priests of the long-lost city of Nanda Parbat. Her memories were erased by the Priests of Parbat when she was 18 years old, and they then released her into society to live like a human. Susan turned into the Orchid Mantis after receiving a new body and amazing new powers.
