When Amaya was six years old and used her metamutant power to make portals, the demon Belascopal accidentally brought her to the realm known as Gemplace. Amaya is a fusion of Magik and Amethyst. Although Amaya was meant to be trained to be Belascopal's evil henchwoman, she was saved by the King and Queen of Gemplace. She spent several years mastering the magic arts before becoming Ametrine, the Princess of Gemplace. Ametrine eventually visited her family on Earth using her powers, then she came back. She had only been away a short while on Earth because time doesn't move the same way there. Ferro Man was shocked to see his sister, who was six at the time, transform overnight into a teenager.
