When the underwater city of Atlantis was destroyed, the Atlantean metamutant Garth was out exploring far from it. Garth wandered the seas alone and lost until he came across the Aqua Mariner. Garth joined Aqua Mariner as Torrent, his sidekick, happy to no longer be by himself.
