A Man Called Anwar
Muhammad Anwar al-Sadat (1918-1981) has been the third President of Egypt. A former counselor of historical President Gamal Abdel Nasser, Sadat stopped the influence of the Nasser's Socialist Party in the country and opened a debate with Israel, becoming the first Arab leader to visit the Israeli part of Jerusalem in 1977. He was assassinated in 1981. He is remembered as a controversial figure.

Strength to Love
Rose and Maddie are a same-sex couple living in Uganda when they are passing an anti-LGBTQ+ law that punishes queer people by death. The law is supported by the hate-mongering Pastor Kuumba, a local televangelist, and Minister Mohammed, an African-American Muslim minister who traveled to Uganda to show support to the law. Rose plans to reach Germany and then the US where one of her exes live, while Maddie tries to reconcile with her brother, who never accepted her, before leaving her country.

Middlesex (TV Miniseries) - Episode 6: “Growth”
Under a doctor's suggestion, Milton and Tessie take Callie to the eccentric sexologist Dr. Peter Luce, whom discovers Callie is actually an intersex boy. However, he doesn't reveal it neither to the parents nor the child, but Callie eventually finds it out and decides to run away and the identity of a young man named "Cal". Traveling the States through hitchhiking, Cal reaches San Francisco, where talent agent Bob Presto finds him a role in a peep show, where he befriends Zora, an intersex girl, and Carmen, a trans girl. In the meanwhile, Milton receives anonymous, threatening phone calls asking money for freeing Callie. Milton leaves the money where established, but he finds out the man was actually his brother-in-law Father Mike who was jealous of him. It follows a car chase, at the end of which Milton dies and Mike is arrested. "Chapter Eleven", Cal's brother, finds him in San Francisco and takes him back home. There, the elderly Desdemona finds out about her grandchild intersex identity and accepts it, revealing him also the secret incestuous nature of her marriage to Lefty. Come back to present, Cal finally has sex with his new girlfriend Julie Kikuchi, who accepts his sexual identity.

Middlesex (TV Miniseries) - Episode 5: “Middlesex”
After moving to Middlesex, Callie starts attending an all-girls private school where she meets a WASPy redheaded girl whom she refers to as the "Obscure Object", and develops a strange love/friendship attraction toward her. They two become friends and Callie spends a holiday with her. However, during it, she has sex with the "Object"'s goth brother Jerome, and then with the "Object" herself, making Jerome wrathful. He harms Callie, who is taken to the hospital where they discover she may not be female. In the meanwhile, the elderly Lefty starts suffering from dementia and, slowly, dies.

Middlesex (TV Miniseries) - Episode 4: "Riot"
Milton and Tessie's child is actually an intersex baby with an XY-chromosome, but the elderly Dr. Philosobian mistakes it for a girl and thus they call them Calliope (dubbed Callie). The little Callie grows up in Detroit and frequents the Zebra Room, the pub founded by Lefty and now owned by Milton, where she befriends Marius Grimes, a young black activist who is despised by the racist Milton. During the 1967 riots, Marius burns off the Zebra Room with a molotov, and the insurance pays it back: the Stephanideses now buy a much fancier house in Grosse Pointe, called Middlesex.

Middlesex (TV Miniseries) - Episode 3: “War”
At the beginning of World War Two, Tessie, pursued by young Orthodox priest Mike Antoniou, starts a relationship with her third cousin Milton. Milton joins the Navy and fights in the World War and the Korean War, they two marry and have a son. They think their next child will be another boy, however it is a daughter, whom they name Calliope.

Middlesex (TV Miniseries) - Episode 2: “America”
Lefty and Desdemona reach America and move to Detroit, at the home of their closeted lesbian cousin Sourmelina, who married an odd man of Pontian ethnicity named Jimmy Zizmo, who leads illegal businesses. Lefty finds a job at Ford Motors but he's fired and tries to work with Jimmy, but he apparently dies by suicide. However, his and Sourmelina's daughter, Tessie, is born, while Lefty and Desdemona also have a son: Milton.
