The BFG, or Big Friendly Giant, is a 24-foot tall giant who spends his time collecting dreams and storing them in his home before giving the good ones to children around the world. Unlike the other giants, the BFG does not eat humans, demonstrating immense compassion.
While the BFG character first appeared in Dahl's 1975 book Danny, the Champion of the World, the standalone novel The BFG was published in 1982. The story was later adapted into an animated film in 1989 and a live-action film in 2016.
