Susanna "Suzie" Harper is the main character of Pala Mepaj's story "Vespa Lady". She is a newcomer in Brighton, England, having recently moved there from Australia. She is harassed by a group of rockers, led by Amos Sutherland and his lackeys Larry and Horace, but is saved by Jefferson "Jeff" Ferris, the mod leader. Jeff takes Suzie under his wing, and introduces her to the other mods, including his friends Michael Benedict and Edgar Perkins, and helps her in her transformation into a mod. Meanwhile, a jealous Amos is planning to strike a blow against the mods. He eventually decides that Suzie should be his victim, so he one day takes her hostage to lure the mods, mainly Jeff, out. Suzie, despite being a prisoner, makes it very clear she won't tolerate Amos' nonsense, and makes his experience as miserable as possible. She is eventually rescued, but the two groups continue to clash. Jeff and Suzie meanwhile become a couple.
