Sofía Castro is an argentinian director and curator specialising in screendance. Her work has been exhibited in settings such as Cinedans, Dance Camera West and ScreenDance Scotland, and in spaces such as Naves Matadero, Conde Duque, Centre de Cultura Contemporània del Carme, BFI London and Eye Filmmuseum. She has been an artist-in-residence at numerous experimental film development laboratories in Chile, Argentina, Poland, Madrid and Amsterdam. She has also been a guest artist and collaborator at the FIVER festival (Madrid), the BAC Biennial (Madrid) and the Encuentros de Videodanza (Valencia). In 2020 she received two nominations at the BFI's Future Film Festival for young talents, and in 2022 she was awarded by Nowness + Cinedans for the innovative character of her work.
She collaborated with the UK-based arts accessibility organisation Shape Arts for Tate Modern. She is currently curator within the Moving Bodies project of the Italian festival Film Fest Lago, while working as a freelance practitioner.
