John Wright (July 4, 1943 – April 20, 2023) was an ACE-certified film editor.
Wright received two Academy Award nominations for his work on The Hunt for Red October (1990) and Speed (1994). He worked twice with director Mel Gibson, editing The Passion of the Christ (2004) and Apocalypto (2006). Other notable movies that he worked as an editor are The Running Man (1987), Broken Arrow (1996), X-Men (2000) and The Incredible Hulk (2008). He also worked with John McThiernan on movies like Last Action Hero (1993), Die Hard with a Vengance (1995), The Thomas Crown Affair and The 13th Warrior (both 1999).
Wright died after battling prostate and bone cancer, on April 20, 2023, at the age of 79.
