Dennis Alejandro Rodríguez (born June, the 6th 1996), also known as Firestrike, is a Latin American transfer student at Xavier high school in New York and also the best friend of Jake, Max, Michael and Liam and one of the five main protagonists of Chargeshock Thompson & the Justice Avengers created by Man of Action.
Appearance
Dennis is a tall young man of Afro-Colombian descent with a lean build and green eyes. He wears a yellow letterman jacket with white accents and black pants.
As Firestrike, he wears a sleeveless red suit.
Personality
As the group's resident jock, Dennis is very adept in any sort of activity that involves physical effort. He is also very close with his allies, friends and pets. However, he can be cocky, dry witted, short-tempered, boastful, impulsive and rebellious, which often makes it hard for people to see why Jake is friends with him. However, despite his massive size and status, he has zero tolerance for bullies, as he's often confrontational towards Brick Jablonski every time they interact or when Brick torments Liam.
He is known for being stubborn, rude and confrontational, which makes him prone to starting fights a lot and makes him look a lot more prone to getting provoked than the others. He is also highly competitive, which made him start rivalries with other people at the tryouts for the football team. He doesn't tolerate offensive teasing from anyone. When people and or even his friends mock him, he would put up a fight. When Max is teasing him in his mischievous ways, Dennis would either yell at him or beat him up playfully. But despite his pragmatic, no nonsense and too cool for school attitude, he cares about his friends and can be pretty likable, if you get to know him better.
As Firestrike, he is the muscular hothead of the Justice Avengers. He loves to fight, wrestle, and trash the place. If there’s a brawl, Firestrike would love to join in the fight whenever you like it or not. Because of his passion for fighting, he would fight first and reflect and ask questions later. His tendency to jump in headfirst into battle without a plan often puts him at odds with Chargeshock, who's got a more strategic approach to things. Initially, he was Chargeshock's rival and had a love-hate relationship with him. Sometimes, Firestrike is willing to follow suit and cooperate with Chargeshock, and other times, he’ll instigate. When he does instigate, he'll either bicker with him or get physical with him. However, despite his tough and hot-blooded exterior, there is a heroic and selfless man, who would do everything for his team and who has grown to respect Chargeshock.
Dennis was a loner at first and even avoided getting too close to people, due to his family constantly moved around towns and him constantly changing schools, but eventually he learns to open up to Jake, Michael, Max and Liam.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
Pyrokinesis: As Firestrike is practically an eternal flame, as he mentioned and naturally this gives him total control over fire. There are several applications to this ability such as:
Fire Generation: As Firestrike, Dennis can generate all sorts of fire-based attacks such as flamethrowers, fireworks, fire disks, fire vortexes and plasma balls.
Fire Breath: As Firestrike, Dennis can breathe fire out of his mouth. Volatile Attacks: As Firestrike, Dennis can also make these attacks highly volatile and explode on contact.
Flight: By propelling himself into the air using his flamethrowers, Firestrike can achieve flight capabilities.
Fire Absorption: Firestrike was able to absorb all the fire generated from a burning building.
Temperature Manipulation: As Firestrike, Dennis can regulate the temperature of his fire attacks so that they don't harm innocent civilians. By doing this, Firestrike was also able to create a pool of molten lava underneath Electro Monster.
Supernova: By moving at high enough speeds, Firestrike is able to achieve "supernova hot" temperatures. This ability allowed him to completely evaporate a giant water monster.
Limited Terrakinesis: By imbuing a piece of the earth with his fire, Firestrike can control that piece of earth as easily as he can control his own flames and can use this earth as a tool for flight.
Superhuman Speed: As Firestrike, Dennis was able to fly several miles in less than a minute. Superhuman Durability: As Firestrike, Dennis was able to tank being thrown through several buildings.
Superhuman Strength: Firestrike is strong enough to stop the momentum of a giant wooden bell, lift a broken portion of a house, rip off the door of car and buckle it.
Abilities
Hand-to-hand combatant: While normally relying on his sheer strength and fire powers, Dennis has developed highly proficient combat skills from his training under Quincy Jackson. He is especially good at grappling and takedowns. Later on, he had taken an active role in training newer members of the Team.
Athleticism: Dennis is a proficient football player and a really good swimmer.
Multilingualism: Dennis can understand and speak many languages outside of English and Spanish. He is at least fluent in Atlantean, French, Korean, Japanese, and Latin, among other languages.
Mechanical Aptitude: After hanging out with Jake, he learned how to repair motorcycles. He was so good at it that it became one of his professions in New York.
Trivia
Dennis' character is often compared to the 2012 incarnation of Raphael, due to their similarities.
Despite his lack of interest in school and apparently having P.E. as his favorite subject, Dennis is good at solving differential equations and is also good at translating what others say in different languages.
Dennis is so tall and muscular, that once Jake called him a Colombian Sasquatch when they first met.
Dennis considers Max his best friend, even if he annoys him sometimes.
Dennis comes from a rich family, though his parents are always either on business trips or working late, which is why he was spending most of his nights alone.
