Chelsea grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. She was raised in a very creative home where an emphasis was placed on the arts. Her education focused on drama, Shakespeare, classical piano, and French. She received her bachelors degree in Theatre and French, and went on to get her MFA in acting from the prestigious Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
