Camila Cavalcante is a character from the American Girl of the Year series, and the best friend of Lea Clarke (2016). She is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her parents and cousin in Salvador, Brazil. She is extremely energetic and enthusiastic, as well as outgoing and friendly. She is described as "so animated when she spoke. Her hands were in constant motion and she thought nothing of leaning close to talk as if we were sharing secrets[...] with Camila, quiet wasn't an option." She isn't always great at reading social cues (such as realizing that Lea did not like being called "Cricket" and quickly trying to set up Zac and Paloma), but makes up for it in her enthusiasm towards meeting new people.
Camila loves being Brazilian and enjoys practicing capoeira; she will quickly explain Brazilian history to anyone, especially African-Brazilian traditions. She is a natural swimmer, saying she could swim before she could walk, but is afraid of heights. She speaks both Brazilian Portuguese and English fluently. Her mother works at the Moda Praia.
