Alejandro Murietta (later de la Vega) is a fictional character in the Zorro franchise and is the main protagonist in the films The Mask of Zorro and The Legend of Zorro; played by Antonio Banderas. He is the younger brother of the real-life outlaw Joaquin Murrieta and takes on the mantle of Zorro after the original Zorro, Diego de la Vega, retires and is killed by a corrupt captain. Alejandro initially seeks revenge for his brother's death but is eventually taught to use his skills for justice as the new Zorro.
