Akane Yashiro (家城茜 Yashiro Akane) is the human protagonist of the 2002 Toho film, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. She reappeared in a minor role in the film's sequel, Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S..
A Type 90 Maser Cannon operator for the JSDF's Anti-Megalosaurus Force, Akane unintentionally caused the death of her comrades in a battle against Godzilla in 1999. Subsequently reassigned to a desk job, Akane was promoted to be a pilot for the Kiryu Squad four years later. Despite the odds against her, Akane earned the respect of her squad and played a key role in the battle between Kiryu and Godzilla in Tokyo.
