Character Description

J. Jonah Jameson hired Gargan, a former private investigator, to discover how Peter Parker takes pictures of Spider-Man. Gargan's efforts to find Peter triggered Spider-Man's spider sense, making him easy to avoid. Jameson paid Gargan $10,000 to be the subject of Stillwell's experiment, which would give Gargan the characteristics of another animal. The experiment was unsuccessful, causing Gargan to lose his sanity and become the Scorpion.
