Ralph is a prime example of an actor who can actively change the tone of a scene just from the way he carries his character on-screen. Through his roles as Laurence Laurentz in Hail, Caesar! (2015) and Chef Slowik in The Menu, Ralph can perfectly capture Prospero’s initial cold-hearted demeanor and his masterful command over the story he’s creating and the characters he has forced into the narrative! However, it is through his role as Gustave H in The Grand Budapest Hotel that despite his contradictions, Ralph can portray a side of Prospero’s humanity through his fatherly love for Miranda that will plant the seeds for his redemption after being moved by Ferdinand’s selfless kindness.
