Jacob Grimm is a man of unbreakable moral integrity and brittle bones. Taking in his no-good brother's son after the death of his nephew Dan, "Uncle Jake" did everything in his power to give Ben Grimm any opportunity, in spite of a rather rocky start. It was Jake who instilled within Ben the values of friendship and hard work, values that would inform the young man's life both before or after his transformation into the ever-lovin' blue eyed Thing.
