Rita Dale, a reporter covering a museum exhibit, had a weird dream-like vision in front of a statue of Neptune, the Roman god of the sea, while covering the exhibit. Rita had a hallucination that the statue had come to life and revealed that she was the ancient Princess Namorita in a new body, endowing her with magical abilities from the lost city of Atlantis. Before eventually becoming a member of the Freedom Defenders, she made a costume and adopted the superhero identity of Miss Atlantis.
