An amalgamation of Marvel's Iron Man and DC Comics' Green Lantern. Billionaire Hal Stark founded Stark Aircraft. He was controlling a simulator of an aircraft that was stationary when it suddenly took off while he was inside. Stark found that the alien spaceship had crashed only a few yards away after being drawn to the crash site by the flight simulator. Metal shards badly damaged Stark's chest. When Stark reached the alien ship, the alien pilot was found to be dying. Hal realized he was dying when the alien died before he could speak with him. Stark used the alien technology to make a set of armor that resembled a lantern and was powered by a battery he discovered in the rubble.
