Tom Harper determined that Cadmus needed to make a clone of himself to be their chief of security after he retired from heroics and launched Project Cadmus. All of Tom's DNA's greatest traits were genetically boosted in the clone. Joseph Harper, Tom's "son," was given the identity of the clone. Joseph was trained to be a hero and given a belt that emitted a force field, which became the Golden Shield, a fusion of Blue Shield and Golden Guardian. His main responsibility as Golden Shield is to defend Project Cadmus from the Agenda Corporation.
