Aliens had abducted the woman known as "Blue Dolphin," who was a fusion of Blue Shark and Dolphin. She was subjected to experiments by the aliens, who also erased her memories and mixed her DNA with that of dolphins and Atlanteans. Blue Dolphin escaped to the sea and lived there with a pod of dolphins until she met Aqua Mariner and Torrent. They helped her in regaining her voice, and she later used her skills to help them in protecting the oceans. Torrent and Blue Dolphin became close because Torrent was still grieving the loss of Mariner Girl, his beloved. He originally turned off her love, choosing a friendship instead. But as time passed, he soon realized that he also loved her.
