When single dad George Altman finds a box of condoms on his daughter Tessa's nightstand, he doesn't know what to do. He eventually decides to leave the problem behind, so to speak: The family moves from a New York apartment to a house in the suburbs. It's a culture shock in the beginning, especially for Tessa, but the big-haired moms and caffeine-chugging kids start to grow on the Altmans. George's knee-jerk reaction may work out better than he'd imagined - experiencing the transition together helps dad and daughter grow closer.

Samantha, a cheerful freelance journalist, and Jay, an up-and-coming chef from the city, throw both caution and money to the wind when they decide to convert a huge run-down country estate they inherited into a bed and breakfast -- only to find it's inhabited by the many spirits of deceased residents. If the spirits were anxious about the commotion a renovation and B&B will create in their home, it's nothing compared to when they realize Samantha is the first live person who can see and hear them.
