A supervillain scientist named Dr. Proton escapes custody after his transport crashes, and he unleashes an army of evil robots (called Techbots) across the city. The world goes, “Uh oh, we need one guy who can punch this problem into oblivion" and sends in Duke Nukem. Duke is sent into a devastated near-future city (mostly ruined and overrun with robots) and fights his way through streets, labs, and enemy strongholds, shutting down Proton’s operations piece by piece. As you progress, the scope expands from city chaos to more high-tech enemy facilities, all leading toward confronting Proton’s plan to take over the world with his robotic army.
