The naive Diana of Themyscira believes the time is now for the Amazonians to reveal themselves to Man’s World after pilot Steve Trevor lands on their shores. Her mother, Queen Hippolyta, refuses because of the last war she fought in. Hippolyta fought in World War I trying to defeat Ares but failed to kill him because of Zeus’ interference. Because of this, Hippolyta refuses to trust men and gets close to killing Trevor. However, after hearing about the war in the Middle East, Diana escapes with Steve Trevor thinking that Ares has returned. She takes it upon herself to personally stop the war by finding and killing Ares.
