The space mission of John Jameson Jr. gives due to an invading alien individual. The rocket crashes in the middle of New York, causing Spider-Man to come to the rescue. Peter is filled with grief and sadness after the death of Gwen Stacy at the hands of the Hobgoblin, having nightmares and anxiety attacks. To make matters worse, an alien from Jameson's mission attaches itself to Peter, turning him into its host!
