All five are hit by a solar storm and contract different abilities, Victor gets the worst of it though, his mind also becomes warped beyond belief. His anger leads him to turn on Reed and Sue, and take over a plot of land in the Middle East, which he calls Latveria.

During the mid 1970s in the state of Alabama, a poor black family is struggling to make ends meet. One day their youngest son Eric, is revealed to have mutant powers. The town makes a decision to kill Eric and his entire family, Eric watches as they dispatch his family, he then unleashes a hellacious assault on the town using his powers. He then meets young Charles Xavier, and the story continues from there.
