Children of Blood and Bone
Children of Blood and Bone

A Song of Ice and Fire
After being forced into exile on the eastern continent by his king and brother Rhaegar I, Prince Viserys Targaryen again undermined the crown by kidnapping his sister Daenerys. As well as having the support of the Golden Company, he forced his younger sister to marry Khal Drogo in order to increase the number of his allies and obtain an army capable of rivalling that of his brother Rhaegar. This plan was thwarted a few moons later, when Daenerys's dragon found her and burnt the khalasar. The inferno left few survivors. Viserys would have perished, burnt alive... At least, that's what Westeros is convinced. Unfortunately, the truth is quite different. Prince Targaryen managed to escape the flames and death, but not without being wounded in the leg, thanks to survivors from the Golden Company. Once he had recovered from his wound, and while continuing to let Westeros believe that he was indeed dead, Viserys managed to join up with another exile from the Seven Crowns who was also in Essos. Euron Greyjoy. The latter had contacted the banished prince shortly before to propose an alliance. He offered him his help in conquering the Iron Throne on condition that, once on the throne and named king, Viserys offered his ally the crown of the Iron Islands. Vengeful and determined, Viserys accepted this alliance.

Gaia
Buy, consume, throw away. We knew, however, that over-consumption would eventually crumble all our resources and that there would be nothing left but dust to cement this prison where comfort was the most treacherous of jailers. So the disasters multiplied, our living conditions deteriorated, but it's amazing what you get used to when the threads of misery weave together into a new normality. Like trapped in the deadly web of a devious spider, we become entangled until we can no longer escape - until all that's left to do is wait for the fatal bite of extinction. Or not. Humans are tenacious and certainly weren't going to let themselves die like that. So when the end of the world as we knew it became inevitable, a number of projects were set up to try and survive in spite of everything. Space exploration and underground bunkers are examples of attempts that merely delayed the inevitable. The truth is, it was time to die out... And that's exactly what happened to you. You, the participants in the Persephone Project, have been buried deep underground, embalmed in capsules like seeds that spend the winter dormant before growing and flowering when spring returns. You come from all walks of life, from all trades, and together you will have to rebuild a society that will, hopefully, be the best it can be.
