Stephen Herek's Spider-Man (1992)
Dr. Otto Octavius as a teacher and mentor to a college-aged Peter Parker, with the cyclotron accident that creates Spider-Man also deforming Octavius into Doc Ock and resulting in his mad pursuit of proof of the Fifth Force, as he reconstructs his cyclotron and causes electromagnetic abnormalities, anti-gravity effects, and bilocation which threatens to engulf New York City and the world.

Tobe Hooper's Spider-Man (1985)
A corporate scientist intentionally subjects identity-badge photographer Peter Parker to radioactive bombardment, transforming him into a hairy, suicidal, eight-armed monster. When Parker refuses to join the scientist's new master-race of mutants, he does battle with a succession of mutations kept in a basement laboratory.

Jack Black & Robert Smigel's Green Lantern (2011)
Most infamously, studio executives toyed with the idea of making the film a raunchy PG-13 action comedy, with School of Rock star Jack Black inhabiting the titular role, playing a newly created character named Jud Plato. The higher-ups at Warner Bros. tasked Saturday Night Live veteran Robert Smigel with penning the screenplay, with the comedian loosely basing his draft on the acclaimed comic book series Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn. However, following wildly negative fan backlash towards the mere idea of a comedic take on the character, Warner Bros. promptly pulled the plug on this incarnation, and those who've managed to get a hold of Smigel's script have had nothing but criticism for his approach to the material.

John August's draft was an action comedy which focused on the origin story of the hero, then known by his original name of Captain Marvel, and his young alter ego, Billy Batson.

Superman: Flyby (2004)
An origin story that included the planet Krypton being besieged by a civil war between Jor-El and his corrupt brother Kata-Zor. Before Kata-Zor sentences Jor-El to prison, Kal-El is launched to Earth to fulfill a prophecy. Adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent and given the name Clark, he forms a romance with Lois Lane at the Daily Planet. However, Lois is more concerned with exposing Lex Luthor, a government agent obsessed with UFO phenomena. Clark reveals himself to the world as Superman, bringing Kata-Zor's son, Ty-Zor, and three other Kryptonians to Earth. Superman is defeated and killed, and visits Jor-El — who committed suicide on Krypton while in prison – in Kryptonian heaven. Resurrected, he returns to Earth and defeats the four Kryptonians before flying off to Krypton in a spaceship.

Batman vs. Superman: Asylum (2004)
The story concerned Bruce Wayne going through a mental breakdown after his five-year retirement from crime fighting. Dick Grayson, Alfred Pennyworth, and Commissioner James Gordon are all dead, but Bruce some solace in his fiancée, Elizabeth Miller. Meanwhile, Clark Kent is struggling because of a recent divorce from Lois Lane, but reconnects with his childhood friend Lana Lang in Smallville. Clark and Bruce are close friends, and Clark is Bruce's best man at his wedding. But after the Joker kills Elizabeth on their honeymoon, a traumatized Bruce swears revenge while a concerned Clark tries to hold him back; as a result, Bruce blames Clark for her death and the two go against one another. Ultimately, Lex Luthor is revealed to have masterminded the entire plot to get Batman and Superman to destroy each other, so the two decide to team up and stop Luthor.

James Cameron's Spider-Man (1994)
After being bitten by a genetically-modified spider, a shy teenager gains spider-like abilities that he uses to fight injustice as a masked superhero and face a vengeful enemy.

Spider-Man: The Movie (1986)
The plot would center on a very dark and gritty version of New York City that would be very cold, unforgiving and crime-drivin, but regains its optimism thanks to the web-swinging superhero Spider-Man, who is more vibrant and inspirational in contrast to everything around him.

Murder Drones (2006)
A sardonic teen helper robot plans to kill Disassembly Drones, which are meant to kill her kind, but runs into one herself. As this Disassembly Drone seems to be deflected, they form a plan to kill all the other Disassembly Drones, but realize they all may be subjects of something more sinister.

The film follows Batman as he attempts to prevent Two-Face and the Riddler from uncovering his secret identity and extracting information from the minds of Gotham City's residents, while at the same time navigating his feelings for psychologist Dr. Chase Meridian and adopting orphaned acrobat Dick Grayson—who becomes his partner and best friend, Robin.
