Star vs. the Forces of Evil (1995-1999)

The series follows a teenage Magical Girl princess named Star Butterfly, who receives the family Magic Wand for her fourteenth birthday and, due to her extreme enthusiasm and inexperience, almost destroys the Kingdom of Mewni with it. Rather than send her to St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Princesses as punishment, her parents decide that the best thing to do would be to send her to a safe environment where she can learn and practice her new abilities: the Earth "Dimension", specifically Echo Creek, California, where she'll be living with the Diaz family as a foreign exchange student, and attending high school with their adventure-seeking yet safety-minded son Marco. Of course, Star and Marco aren't exactly stuck on Earth, despite what her parents intended: thanks to a pair of magic portal-creating scissors, the newfound friends find themselves having adventures both on Earth and throughout various dimensions, getting into hijinks, and fighting off evildoers who want the power of the wand for themselves.

Hamlet

Set in Denmark, the play depicts Prince Hamlet and his revenge against his uncle, Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet's father in order to seize his throne and marry Hamlet's mother.

Tommy

After seeing his stepfather murder his father during an argument over his mother, young Tommy goes into shock, suddenly becoming psychosomatically deaf, dumb and blind. As a teenager, Tommy stumbles upon a pinball machine and discovers he is a natural prodigy at the game. Fame and fortune follow for Tommy, as he first becomes a pinball champion and later the messiah of a religious cult who view his pinball skills as a miraculous sign of divine intervention. (You can cast as crazy as you like for this)

Corpse Bride

Victor, the son of some newly wealthy fishmongers, is entering into an arranged marriage with Victoria, a beautiful young woman from a bankrupt aristocratic family. The couple find out that despite their differences, they actually rather like each other, and everything is going swimmingly... Except for the tiny problem of Victor being too nervous to memorize his wedding vows. He goes into the forest to practice them but, unintentionally, gives the speech (and engagement ring) to the vivacious and fun-loving Emily, who thinks they are now married. Oh, did we mention Emily is dead?

The Amazing Screw-On Head

Similar in tone and theme to Mignola's better known Hellboy, The Amazing Screw-On Head is a black comedy that stars a robot living during the Lincoln administration whose head can be attached to different bodies with different tactical abilities, and who functions as an agent of the U.S. government.

Animorphs (The Animated Series)

The story revolves around five humans: Jake, Marco, Cassie, Rachel and Tobias, and one alien, Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill (nicknamed Ax), who obtain the ability to transform into any animal they touch. Naming themselves "Animorphs" (a portmanteau of "animal morphers"), they use their ability to battle a secret alien infiltration of Earth by a parasitic race of aliens resembling large slugs called Yeerks, that can take any living creatures as a host by entering and merging with their brain through the ear canal. The Animorphs fight as a guerilla force against the Yeerks who are led by Visser Three.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (1974)

Set in the fictional war-torn European country Zubrowka in the 1930s, The Grand Budapest Hotel tells the story of two people: Monsieur Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes), a concierge, one of his employees, the lobby boy Zero (Tony Revolori), and the friendship they form as they team up for several misadventures while trying to prove Gustave's innocence after he was framed for murder.
