Once the commander of Expedition Zero, Renoir is a charismatic yet ruthless man who devoted his life to keeping his family together, all while ensuring that no Expeditionner would ever reach the Paintress, source of life inside the Canvas.
Carrying the full weight of the Dessendre family's failures on his shoulders, he is a protective parent well aware of the reality of his condition. His misguided intentions ultimately put him at odds with his son, who became determined to take down the Paintress and with her, the Canvas as a whole.
