Grant Morrison's run on the X-Men title (renamed 'New X-Men' at his behest) is both famous and infamous among fans. Morrison shook up the status quo, introducing villains such as Cassandra Nova and the Omega Gang, re-establishing Jean Grey's connection to the Phoenix Force, and turning the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning into an actual school and not just a training facility. Many of his changes, however, were eventually retconned or ignored by future writers, namely his portrayal of Magneto and the existence of the character Xorn.
