Born on August 29, 1982, in Kiskunmajsa, Hungary (where her father was stationed with the Soviet military), Marina Aleksandrova is one of Russia’s most elegant and versatile screen stars. A graduate of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, she first captivated audiences in the early 2000s with the period drama Poor Nastya and the Boris Akunin adaptation Azazel.
She has since become the face of historical prestige drama in Russia, most notably for her decade-long portrayal of the titular empress in the Ekaterina franchise. As of late 2025, she continues to lead major streaming series and long-running detective procedurals.
