Kevin Tierney is a fictional character and the main antagonist of Nicholas Sparks' novel Safe Haven and its film adaption.
He is a Boston PD detective and the abusive and alcoholic husband of the main protagonist Katie Feldman (real name Erin Tierney), whom she fled from after saving enough money to escape from him after another episode of his abuse towards her.
Kevin treats his wife very poorly to the point of hurting her for the tiniest of insults, mistakes, and/or offenses, forbidding her from having a job of her own, making friends with anybody (especially other men), getting a driver's license, etc. to the point of being a jailer.
When Katie flees their home, Kevin becomes enraged to the point of drinking to dull his pain. After learning of his wife's new identity, he searches for her and plans to kill her for leaving him.
