Born in Northrop, Wales, Tucker made his screen debut in Home to Roost before having his breakout role as Montgomery in The Darling Buds of May. While he also appeared on stage and had several more roles on television, he had to give up his acting career due to cystic fibrosis, a condition which he participated in numerous charity events for. He played Gavroche in the original 1985 London cast of Les Misérables.
