Boris Shcherbakov was born on December 11, 1949, in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Russia.
He is a prolific Soviet and Russian film and theater actor, television presenter, and People's Artist of the Russian Federation (1994). Over a career spanning more than 50 years, Shcherbakov has appeared in over 200 film and television projects, ranging from military dramas like Case in Square 36-80 (1982) and Shore (1983)—for which he received the USSR State Prize—to popular series such as Soldiers. A graduate of the Moscow Art Theatre School, he spent decades as a leading actor at the Moscow Art Theatre (MHT). As of 2025, he remains an active and beloved figure in Russian media; he recently starred as Nikolai Starostin in the biographical sports drama Fedya: People's Football Player (2024) and continues to tour with solo stage performances, including his acclaimed one-man show of Pushkin's The Snowstorm.
