The Black Bat is a fictional character introduced in July 1939 issue of Black Book Detective, this is the second version of an existing pulp hero called The Black Bat who first appeared between 1933-1934 and was unnamed. This version is undoubtedly the most well known and details the origins of District Attorney Anthony Quinn, who becomes a masked crime-fighter once he is blinded by a criminal that threw acid into his face.
