Angkar is a powerful demonic organization that manifests as a ruling body to both mock the faith of its Cambodian and Western foreign enemies to hide among them. Pol Pot (Saloth Sâr) tethered himself to any human souls in order to escape banishment when he uses them as a pawn when he/or she finds out what the demon was after both in and outside Cambodia, with Pol Pot obtaining the relic his eyes glow red with his full Angelic powers back, Pol Pot now has accesses his full potential again committing mass destruction, the downfall of society which destroyed other people's lives, or anything but their own desires, which are typically selfish and cruel such as abusing others, especially relatives or close loved ones, such as spouses/partners, their own children giving them physical pain over time because of Angkar which formed itself as an evil spiritual Talisman as the Khmer tradition for all eternity. Cambodia is still a pariah state, isolated and heavily controlled, with its economy and society in a devastated state like its time in power. The country has suffered and continued extreme violence, the destruction of its intellectual class, and severe poverty, with no path to recovery and potentially ongoing conflict, by ongoing repeated purges, executions, and forced labor, leading to a far greater death toll, as the country's economy have remained in ruins, with no foreign investment or aid and no functioning markets. The country would likely have been unable to rebuild any infrastructure. Angkar would have continued its campaign to eliminate educated people and professionals, leaving Democratic Kampuchea without skilled workers to rebuild the nation such as family life, social structures and traditional culture, with no hope of recovery. Democratic Kampuchea have remained an international pariah state, with widespread condemnation and no international recognition or support only to Angkar. Cambodia has remained under the absolute control of Angkar and the Khmer Rouge, with no hope of developing a democratic or stable government because of Year Zero was put into practice all cultures and traditions had been completely destroyed and a new revolutionary culture must replace it starting from scratch. Where everything before as history or people before Year Zero must be purged. The Khmer Rouge emptied the cities, including Phnom Penh, after pursuing complete egalitarianism, money, religion, and private property were abolished and all citizens were forced to wear the same black clothing and divided the population as "New People" from urban centers and "Old People" from rural areas.
