X-Men 5: Apocalypse is a 2014 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the X-Men. It is the seventh installment in the X-Men film series and a sequel to X-Men: The New Mutants (2011). Directed by Matthew Vaughn and written by Simon Kinberg, the film features an ensemble cast, including Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Kelsy Grammer, Anna Paquin, Taylor Kitsch, Shawn Ashmore, Olivia Munn, Stefan Kapičić, Ben Foster, Jensen Ackles, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Condor, Kaitlyn Dever, Anya Taylor Joy, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, Liev Schreiber, Ray Park, Vinnie Jones, Kim Basinger, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Emma Dumont and Christopher Judge. In the film, the ancient mutant En Sabah Nur / Apocalypse is inadvertently revived in 2014 and plans to recreate the world in his own image, leading the X-Men to try to stop him and defeat his team of mutants.
