Wolverine is a 2009 American Neo-Noir western superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Wolverine. It is the fourth installment in the X-Men film series, the first Wolverine solo film, and the tenth film in the Perfect Marvel Universe (PMU). The film was directed by The Coen Brothers and written by Dan Houser, Michael Unsworth and Christian Cantamessa. Hugh Jackman stars as Wolverine, alongside Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Dominic Monaghan, and Ryan Reynolds. The film shows Wolverine who, after taking a break from the X-Men but promises to come back, is forced by the American Government to hunt down his former team known, including their leader Colonel William Stryker. With no choice, Logan sets out to bring the members of his former gang to justice.
