In the Land of Oz, the citizens of Munchkinland celebrate the recent death of the Wicked Warlock of the West. Glind the Good tells the Warlock's story. Born from an affair between his father, the husband of then-Governess Thropp, and a traveling saleswoman, he was rejected from birth due to his unnaturally green skin, which led him to have a troubled childhood ("No One Mourns the Wicked"). He was adopted and raised by Dulcibear, his nanny. When asked if he and the Warlock were friends, Glind replies that they knew each other and reflects on their past.
