The Horus Heresy
The Horus Heresy is a pivotal event in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, set 10,000 years before the main timeline. It chronicles the tragic betrayal of the Emperor of Mankind by his most trusted son, Horus, who falls to the corrupting influence of Chaos. As Warmaster, Horus leads half of the Emperor's genetically-engineered Primarchs and their Space Marine Legions in a devastating civil war that nearly destroys humanity's fledgling galactic empire. The conflict culminates in the Siege of Terra, where Horus is ultimately defeated but at great cost, leaving the Imperium fractured and setting the stage for an era of unending war.
