Ambulocetus was a large, otter-like and crocodile-like amphibious predator from the Eocene epoch, approximately 49 million years ago, that lived a semi-aquatic lifestyle. It was about 10 to 12 feet long and weighed around 400 pounds, with a streamlined body, long tail, large webbed feet for swimming, and powerful jaws for capturing prey. While its name means "walking whale," more recent research suggests it was likely more adapted to swimming than walking on land, using its large feet and tail to move through the water like an otter.
