Becoming the last of her House after her parents' execution by the Kryptonian court, Val quickly befriended fellow orphan Kara Zor-El . Moments before Krypton's destruction, Val, Kara, Kal-El and another child managed to escape and survive the destruction of their planet thanks to Jor-El and Lara.
