A veteran detective serving for the SSSP, Dan is very cold and calculated as if he already knows what he is doing, and is a hard, but fair mentor for Shin. He trains him when it comes to combat. Their morals also conflict, with Shin not wanting to kill his enemies while Daniel is willing to do whatever it takes to retain justice. Later on, it is revealed he is also a member of Ultraman's race, a warrior called "Ultraseven".
