Set one year after the events of Battlefield: with U.N.I.T facing bankruptcy and becoming half-public and half-privately owned in order to prevent it from floundering, Brigadier Winifred Bambera, now having to keep a government official and a private owner happy, hires Dr. Jonathan Hooper, newly graduated from Cambridge, to help U.N.I.T defend the Earth against alien threats.
