Once he learned that Shredder from his dimension is back, he becomes an emotional mess because Shredder killed Splinter. And it takes an emotional toll on him more when he figures out that the other Leonardo's still have a Splinter. But he'll overcome his insecurity to defeat Rise Krang and all the other villains once and for all.
