If the movie was released ten years later
Dr. Will Caster and the other research scientists race to finish an artificial intelligence project while being targeted by a radical anti-technology organization known as "Revolutionary Independence From Technology" with R.I.F.T. as abreviation. Shortly after Will get shot by a member of R.I.F.T., Will is diagnosed with radiation from the bullet he receives. So, his consciousness is transfered into the machine.
