Thomas Jeffrey Hanks is an American actor and filmmaker known for both his dramatic and comedic roles. He first found fame in the 1980s on the ABC show Bosom Buddies and in films like Splash (1984), Bachelor Party (1984), and Big (1988). His role in Big earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Hanks became known as a romantic leading man after starring in films with Meg Ryan, including Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and You've Got Mail (1999)
