Lucas Levi is a speedster who was granted superspeed through an experiment he created during a high-school science fair. He would be mentored by his big brother: Samuel Levi, who was the original Speedy. Throughout Lucas's high school years, the duo would fight crime together through the West Coast. Lucas tries to be a hero like his brother but Samuel was so much faster and skilled that Lucas wasn't able to keep up; so despite Samuel's encouragement, Lucas left the hero business. But then one day, Samuel sacrifices himself while fighting a villain and Lucas blames himself; he believes that he could've saved him if he hadn't quit. Lucas takes up the mantle of Speedy to honor Samuel's legacy.
