The gaps in his uneven paintwork reveal evidence of an earlier, buried portion of his life. Hint: He used to be purple. Ambulon doesn't really have a complete alt mode—he turns into a leg. Just a leg. This unfortunate alternate mode is all that remains from his former life, where he was used as a guinea pig for a botched combiner experiment.
